Week in Review: Even the New York Times Agrees…

The New York TimesĀ may haveĀ put itĀ best: Conservatives are ā€œwinning the battle for hearts and minds.ā€

This past week alone saw the Trump AdministrationĀ takeĀ steps to put an end to ā€œDiversity, Equity, and Inclusionā€ (DEI) programs in the federal government—as Americans tire of being blamed for ā€œsystemic racism.ā€ But we can’t stop there. In colleges and universities across the country, the tenets of DEI are seeping into student life. The left’s goal is clear: to raise up a new generation of progressive activists.

ā€œPresident Trump’s executive orders have dealt a massive blow to the DEI regime, but even those actions leave untouched the billions in subsidies being extracted from students and state taxpayers to prop up mandatory DEI coursework at public universities,ā€ Goldwater Director of Education Policy Matt Beienburg says. ā€œPresident Trump did his part at the federal level, but now it’s the duty of state lawmakers to shut off the artificial pipeline of funding still flowing to DEI-based indoctrination across our nation.ā€

Fortunately, the Goldwater Institute is implementing a strategy to save America’s future, complete with a suite of reforms, already law in multiple states, to roll back DEI in higher education. We’re taking back our classrooms—and turning the tide on campus indoctrination.

Did you know? A primary cause of the American Revolution was the decision by British officials to establish a juryless court system to decide tax cases.

The British rule in America is long gone. But ā€œAmericans often find themselves in precisely the same situation, due to the growth of bureaucracies that enjoy power to write the rules, investigate alleged violations, and prosecute people in their own special courts—where the accused gets no jury trial and the agency that brings the charges also renders the decision,ā€ Goldwater’s Timothy Sandefur writes in the State Court Report.

The Administrative State’s army of bureaucrats controls nearly every aspect of American life. But Goldwater is showing the nation how to fight back—and win. From safeguarding the right to earn a living to ending automatic judicial deference to administrative agencies in numerous states, Goldwater is dedicated to defending Americans’ freedom from unelected bureaucrats.

With countless Arizonans struggling to afford housing, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs is illegally blocking new home construction in Maricopa County.

Not. On. Our. Watch. This week, the Goldwater Institute sued the Hobbs Administration to halt one of the most significant bureaucratic overreaches in Arizona’s history.

Under the Arizona Department of Water Resources’ nonsensical new rule, if a well in the East Valley is projected to dip below a certain depth, water bureaucrats will inaccurately declare a water shortage for unrelated developments in the West Valley. It’s also illegal—the mandate was imposed without legislative authorization or the required formal rulemaking process.

Decisions on vital statewide concerns should be made through a transparent, democratic process—not imposed by executive fiat. We won’t let Gov. Hobbs’ illegal water rule sink Arizona’s housing future.
